Umi Omi’s work is grounded in a simple belief. When leaders and organizations rooted in BIPOC communities are supported with the tools, strategy, and resources they need, they can drive meaningful change in their communities.

Many leaders working toward social impact face systemic barriers, limited access to resources, and gaps in the networks that support sustainable growth. These challenges often prevent organizations and entrepreneurs from reaching their full potential.

Our journey in professional settings revealed a deep yearning for development, direction, and community impact.

We recognized that many brilliant BIPOC leaders face significant resource gaps and systemic barriers, preventing them from reaching their full potential. BIPOC entrepreneurs and executives in the progressive sector often struggle with the lack of support necessary to flourish, hindered by the pervasive systems of white supremacy, capitalism, and patriarchy.

We believe that when BIPOC entrepreneurs and executives receive the support they need to grow, manage, and expand their businesses, everyone benefits. Too often, these leaders are overwhelmed by the demands of managing staff, ensuring financial sustainability, scaling impact, strategic planning, and fundraising, resulting in the underutilization of their incredible talents.
